The cat and mouse team returned for 16 thirty-minute episodes in the 80's, each episode consisting of two seven-and-a-half-minute Tom and Jerry episodes and one seven-and-a-half-minute episode of Droopy or others. Like in the early theatrical cartoons, Tom and Jerry never spoke. There was less violence, and Tom and Jerry were usually friends. This series marked the first appearance of Droopy since 1957. Earlier versions of Spike were combined into one new character with a Jimmy Durante accent (voiced by Frank Welker). Droopy opened each show and appeared between each cartoon, 'painting' the scene with a brushstroke.
Filmation. Thirty minutes. CBS: September 6, 1980 to September 4, 1982.
