There were also live-action segments interspersed with the shows with Mario, played by famous wrestler Captain Lou Albano, Luigi, and their various friends at "Club Mario." Among these friends were the one-man-band named Band and the scientist Dr. Know-It-All.

Some cartoon segments were later re-used in "Captain N and the Super Mario Brothers" in 1990.
