Sorry to hear of Mr. Wilder's death. Sad
I will always remember him as Willy Wonka in the 1971 classic, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (based on Roald Dahl's classic book, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". I love the book and I love the movie.)
One other role he did that may not be as well known though- he portrayed The Fox in another classic children's novel adaptation to movie- in the 1974 movie version of "The Little Prince", based on Antoine de Saint-Exupery's classic.
May God be with his family in this sad time. Crying or Very sad

I wonder if he's shouting at Marty Feldman again?

I think I may have to finally watch one of Gene Wilder's classics as a tribute. I've had a copy of "Young Frankenstein" for a while now, but haven't gotten to seeing it yet. I think I may do that for a movie night soon... Smile

Well, I watched "Young Frankenstein"- fun send-up of the 1930s Universal movie monster horror films. Very Happy Cool
I have seen some Mel Brooks movies before and some are quite funny....but though I can appreciate the sight gags and puns, sometimes I don't find them all that hilarious. It just depends. With this movie, I definitely enjoyed some of the song and dance routines and song references and such- and the twist at the end was definitely interesting. I wonder if it would help if I had seen Boris Karloff's "Frankenstein" movie- I'm at least familiar with Mary Shelley's book in passing, so some lines definitely sounded familiar. I also liked that the movie was in black and white, to mimic the style of the original. I don't know if I would care to watch it over and over again, but it was nice to finally see this movie I'd heard about for so long- and nice to appreciate more of Gene Wilder's work- along with Mel Brooks as director, of course- and Marty Feldman, Madeleine Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle and Gene Hackman too.
