Talking to a buddy and we couldn't come up with the name of this one.
It's either a late 70's or early 80's Japanese cartoon. Takes place in space in the future. I thought it was Danguard Ace, but I think I'm wrong. The main Captain for the good guys pilots this MASSIVE space ship that looks like a funky submarine. Other than that, it's pretty standard Japanese, mech robots, space ship stuff.

sounds familar but i cant nail it down...
i recall a similar themed story, but there the submarine can allso be a carrier and is later on fitted with a space drive...
maybe they are related, i dont know...
