Hmm. 'Toy line' would indicate several toys at one time or a series of toys. There has been a toy now and then but I wouldn't say a 'toy line'.

O.K. so time for a roundup.

Male
Mammal
Not Human
Had shows through the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
Not a Pet.
Main Character, Show named after him.
Not from a comic Book.

Is he a Land based animal, as opposed to water based or marine?

Is the show aimed at young children? (i.e. toddler through kindergarten/1st. grade or so?)

While the stories are not Shakespeare, I don't think it is aimed at that young a group. It's not quite Dora the Explorer. Older than that but not teens/preteens, either.

From darkest Peru and loves marmalade. Yes, it is Paddington Bear. I grew up watching the 70s to 80s stop motion version. What finally gave it away?

Cool. "Paddington Bear" is a classic character in children's literature. Michael Bond's books have been read and loved by kids since 1958- and it has had 3 different TV shows- and apparently, there is a movie in the works for next year.
I think it was the fact that it's a mammal with a show named after him and aimed at children... somewhere it came to me- being a fan of children's literature (I studied it some in school)- Paddington Bear just came to mind.
Great choice! Very Happy Cool
