A prince turned into a dog?

My mother was tells me about a video I had as a child that I used to watch 8 and 10 times a day for weeks. I hardly remember it, but it was about a girl that was searching for a prince and this dog followed her around. She named the dog prince not realizing that he was the real prince. All I remember was at the end, she was in a carriage and when she looked out the window, she saw a shadow of a man in moonlight but when she got out of the carriage, the dog was driving. She never did discover that the dog was her prince. Any help would be appreciated.

That it. Thank you. I have a sister who is 18 years younger than me. Netflix has just added a ton of the 80s cartoons and my sister started watching them. This show was brought up but we couldn't remember the name.
