I've been hearing a lot about this lately. Michael Bay to direct new Ninja Turtles movie. "Fricken awesome"? or "my poor childhood"?
The main story I'm hearing about it is they are not going to be mutants but aliens instead. Another story I heard is they're not going to be teenagers. The latest change was the title was going to be "Ninja Turtles" which I'm completly okay with.

Who knows? I've heard some stuff on this too. I hope Michael Bay will do a good as producer of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Jonathan Liebesman is actually the director, by the way. And they are working in tandem with Kevin Eastman, one of the creators of the Turtles. I prefer the full title being used rather than just "Ninja Turtles"- however, they are wanting to differentiate this movie from the previous 4- and the 4th. one was meant as a reboot in itself, though it also referenced the first 3 movies. This situation is sounding to me like the Superman movie series. "TMNT" is like the "Superman Returns" of the Turtles' world. (Though for the record, I like both movies.) Now, "Superman: Man of Steel" and "Ninja Turtles" will both serving as reboots of reboots....
We'll see how good they do- I'm not totally optimistic for either one, but being a fan of the franchises, I'll give them both a chance...

Well, it could be interesting. Most fans are upset because it's totally breaking established TMNT canon... of course, if Laird and Eastman are okay with it, then that settles it. I mean, it's their creation- they can do what they want with it. But it doesn't mean all the fans will like it.
I would plan to see a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film regardless.

why call it Ninja Turtles if they plan to make them aliens? that would make no since at all.

They could be from a planet of humanoid turtles. Ive read rumors that Dimension X will be in it so they might be from there.

| Hmm- if Dimension X is involved, that would be pretty cool as they haven't explored that much in the movies. I'm still not real thrilled with the idea of them being aliens versus mutated turtles, but whatever. I'm not sure if I really like Michael Bay being involved with the movie either, as I honestly don't feel like he did that great of a job with Transformers. (The first movie I liked more or less- though there were definitely parts I could do without. I just felt like the next two got progressively worse...)

| Thankfully this whole alien idea's been scrapped now and they're just showing a new cartoon series.

| Well, Nickelodeon does have a new TMNT cartoon series going- is the movie totally dead though? I do think the fan backlash probably helped kill the alien idea, but I didn't know if the movie itself was still going or not.
