The GoBots are going to DVD!!! :-)

Warner Archive Collection, the group that has been putting so many Hanna Barbera productions on DVD lately (via its "Manufacture on Demand" program), (http://www.wbshop.com/Hanna-Barbera/HANNABARBERA,default,sc.html?AID=10811526&PID=38216) has confirmed that they do own the rights to the "Challenge of the GoBots" cartoon series and that fans can look for it come to DVD soon!
Hopefully, the movie- "GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords" might follow it too.
I remember both the GoBots and its more popular rival series, The Transformers, on TV as a kid. I think I had some toys from both cartoon series. In any case, it's cool to see this lesser remembered but still pretty cool show coming to DVD. Very Happy

Also, if you check the Warner Archive Facebook page they answered some other fan questions, namely that the Centurions was also coming to DVD. It looks like they plan on releasing all the Hanna-Barbera stuff. Hopefully that means Ruby Spears stuff as well that they "consider" to be HB (like Thundarr.)

I hope they also finish off the Rankin/Bass stuff with a second volume of Silverhawks and Tigersharks...

This is awesome! I was a bigger fan of the GoBots than Transformers. Not because I wanted to be though. My parents didn't really know the difference between the two and GoBot toys were cheaper, so I got those.

One of my favorite bad guy names in all of toons is Cy-Kill

I would also love to see the rest of SilverHawks and all of TigerSharks (and the other cartoons from "The Comic Strip" - Karate Kat, Street Frogs, and The Mini-Monsters) come to DVD too. Very Happy

This DVD set is looking like it's coming out in May, but still no definite word on that. However, here's a better look at the cover art for the DVD- though it may still change.

Gobots was a total classic. I haven't seen any episodes in decades though so I was happy to see this thread. I'm surprised they're coming out with this. I wouldn't have thought there would be enough trueheads for this to be financially viable. I'll have to get my new HDTV in time for this release. How are the prices at hh gregg?

Yeah- "Gobots" is kinda derided by some fans as a ripoff of "Transformers" but I remember both in the '80s and I like them both just fine.
