Little girl rides floating fish, boy fights living plants

I've been looking for a cartoon series, and I believe it was aired in the 80's. I've been looking for it forever, but I can't remember the name.

Anyway, the boy is older than the girl, and he's searching for his missing father, who had created a race of sentient plants. The boss plant was trying to find and destroy the dad, because he had a secret to destroy the plants. The boy knows he can find his father, he has the ability to fight the plants, and cleanse planets of their evil influence. The girl is actually a plant herself, created by the father, and has special abilities with natural plants. The floating fish can't really talk, but can be understood by the girl. There's also a mercenary who helps the boy, claiming reluctance, but he keeps going back and saving the two children when it's do or die.

I'm hoping this is enough information, I've been wanting to locate this series for the longest time.

Jayce was the son of the scientist who unintentionally created SawBoss. They were on a mission to stop the evil humanoid plant, SawBoss from taking over the universe. His weeds and his armored plant battle vehicles,(The Monster Minds) were spreading from planet to planet. Jayce the young hero had half of the key to stopping the boss root SawBoss.

There was a group of heroes The Lighting League( a wizard, a roguish pilot smuggler in the mold of Han Solo, a young girl who had the ability to talk to plants (she began her life as a plant) and her flying pet angelfish. She was another creation of Jayce's father, so in a way she was Jayce's little sister A droid that looked like a little knight and the young hero Jayce.
