I have been trying for years, ever since getting the 'net, to research this cartoon or just poll my friends.
I think it is an 80s cartoon; that is, I know I watched it in the late 80s. I suppose it very well could be originally from the 70s (my Grandfather brought me lots of older cartoons, like 'Mad Mad Monsters' and such), but this I watched on TV I'm pretty sure.
The thing I remember most is these two little ...alien?..things. Little yellow creatures, but the most notable feature was their noses: they were like trumpets, or maybe bugles. They'd kiss eachother with them, but also play musical notes.
I'm pretty sure there was some He-Man knock-off guy, maybe a woman, plus a young boy and maybe a young girl. I remember at the end of the episode they were walking off into the sunset, and the short yellow creatures kissed their bugle-noses together.
This haunts me! LOL Thanks!

Sounds like you're
describing Bic and Bac from,...
Spartakus and the
Sun Beneath the Sea (85)
a.k.a. The Absorbed Worlds
a.k.a. Les Mondes engloutis
The mysterious subterranean world of Arkadia was in jeopardy, when it's
artificial sun began to fail. They had to send a heroic explorer out into the
crust to find a solution to save their land. The desperate people of Arkadia
used a long lost forbidden knowledge to create a special emissary named Arcana.
She would be their messenger.
A brother(Matt) and sister (Rebecca)from the suface world manage to get lost
and fall into a lost fault in the crust deep beneath the Earth. They were found
by Sparticus and Arkana in their living ship. I think Bac and Bic might have been
Arcadian pangolins. The kids join the journey while they look for a way home.

Sounds a little like the Q-Bert cartoon, based on a Videogame of the same name.
Q-Bert Intro_________________ Haven't thought of one yet, when I do i'll put it here.
