| Been trying to remember this one for years. The beginning credits show how the world almost ended. Something about a tidal wave or meteor, but there are survivors who roam the world. I vaguely remember they are looking for other survivors, but there is some enemy out there. Anyone remember the name of a cartoon where the opening credits talk about the end of the world and a survivo?. Mid 80’s.

Thundarr the Barbarian (80)
The story took place in the distant future after the Earth was nearly destroyed
when a rogue planetoid passed in between the Earth and it's moon. The planetoid's
pull caused catastrophic earthquakes and storms that wiped out civilization and threw
mankind back into the stone age. A new world arose from the ruins, that included
advanced science, magic and mutant animals.
Thundarr (the leader) was a former slave. He traveled the world to fight
and overthrow the evil tyrants that enslaved mankind.
The sorceress (the brains) was named Princess Ariel. I think her stepfather was the
same evil war lord/sorcerer that had enslaved Thundarr and Ookla, but she helped
them escape once she saw how evil her stepfather was. She was educated and had
knowledge of Earths past and the ruins around them.
Their large humanoid friend was Ookla the Mok(the brawn). He was one of the many
humanoid species to emerge after the near extinction of man. He wasn't too bright
but he was strong and a loyal friend. He spoke in a series of growls and grunts that
Thundarr understood, but I was never sure Ariel had a grip on his language
