I have steadily been collecting Sears Wish Book catalogs for every year during the '80s. I also have and will eventually collect what I can from the '70s and early '90s. All together I am maybe 80% there. So if any of you would like some scans, or reference info, I would be happy to help out.

Also, for folks looking to collect something unique, I recommend these old catalogs. They can be pricey sometimes, though usually a lot less than some of the great toys that are now so popular that they advertise. They look pretty cool on the book shelves. Not to mention how great they are for flipping through and charging those nostalgia batteries. If you do start to collect catalogs one thing is that the toys and game were usually in a separate catalog or 'Wish Book' from the stores main offerings. The main catalogs are great, too. Bed spreads and Underoo's, jackets and shoes, it makes you want to get on the phone and see if anything is still in stock!

Happy hunting! Very Happy

Cool! It'd be great to see a few scans if you care to post them. Oh yeah- those Christmas catalogs can bring back lots of memories. It's particularly interesting to me to see various toys advertised that were planned and meant to be produced but then later never released. Interesting to see what might have been...

Iīd love to see a few scans of that treasure! I have never had the chance to have one of those on my hands, but they surely look awesome.

Also, The AVGN made some sort of "tour", showing them during his xmas episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONYyFiKjJ20

I'll put up some pics tomorrow afternoon, see if I can find anything wacky and neat. I need a crash course in forum pic posting as well.

You guys are always amazing me with your YouTube links! I just never really browsed it much until seeing all these fantastic links, so thank you and keep them coming!

For posting pictures to forum, the main controls you will want to know are the "Img" and "URL" tags.
Once you get your pictures uploaded to wherever you're going to store them (I suggest a Flickr account or perhaps Imageshack- I've used both at different times- there are plenty of other options out there too.)
Click the "Img" button once and the [img] tag will come up.
Write in the URL of the image you're wanting to post. Click the "Img" button again and the [/img] tag will come up.
So when you're done, it should look like this:
[img]URL[/img]

Now, if you want to also add a Web link to the forum, click on the "URL" button and the [url] tag will come up. Type in the text that you wish to make hyperlinkable (i.e. the name of the site or a word) and then click on the "URL" button again. The [/url] tag will then come up. Now then, to make that text embedded with a link, go back to the [url] tag and add the = sign after the letters "url". Type in your URL there.
So when you're done, it should look like this:
[url=http://www.examplesitethatI'mprettysuredoesn'treallyexist.com]link[/url]
If you want to make a picture linked to a URL, then instead of typing in text between the "URL" tags, put in the "Img" tags instead.
When you're done, it should look like this:

[url=http://www.noreallyI'mprettysurethissitedoesn'treallyexist.com][img]http://www.nonexistentsiteexample.com/coolimage.fileformat[/img][/url]

I hope that is helpful. (I realize you may have already known how to do some of this, Mayor West, but I thought it might be helpful to have this on here for any other new users of the forum who may be wondering about how to do that.

Incredibly helpful, thanks!

So to start, there are some action figures (He-Man, Star Wars, and Zendor stuff.) All these are from the 1983 Sears Wish Book. I apologize for the camera quality and not getting proper scans up.

More to come, enjoy!
Very Happy

That is so much cool, man! I just love the quality that the pictures have, and I mean the ones on actual catalog and not the scans you made (that also look excelent).

Thatīs what I call effort into make a good product.

EDIT: The no-one-line descriptions are delightful also.

Yeah, they are an amazingly fun thing to flip through. Happy that you enjoy them! They just have so much in them that are really interesting.

Here is an early casualty of the '80s format war: the CED

I have recently started to collect these. There are certain things that were only ever released on CED. So it is another fun '80s thing to collect.

CED Magic is a fun resource and forum all about it.

Indeed, it'd be a trip to see what those 2600 games used to cost. Some NES games were the same price but with better graphics and, often, at least equal game play.

Those are incredible pictures. I remember looking at these catalogs when I was a kid. Whenever my Mom and I would go there around Christmas time in the great 80s, I would pickup a catalog. This brings back great memories.
