Well, they were founded in 1972 in Hartsville, Indiana and were putting out albums in the late 1970s too, but I'd have to say Petra is one of my all time favorite bands of all time and they put out some awesome albums in the 1980s!!!! (1981's "Never Say Die", 1983's "Not of this World", 1984's "Beat the System", 1986's "Captured in Time and Space" (Live), 1986's "Back to the Street", 1987's "This Means War!", 1988's "On Fire", 1989's "Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out")

My other favorite 1980s band (and this one was definitely founded and ran mostly in the 1980s- started in 1983 as Roxx Regime and then by 1984 had become known as one of the premiere Christian heavy metal bands- Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace, Encouragement and Righteousness!!!!)
-Named after Isaiah 53:5 "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities and by His stripes we are healed."
You know who I'm talking about- Stryper!!!!!!!!

(They still might be making a new studio album soon as they recently reunited- I got to finally see them in concert during their reunion tour in 2003!!!!!! Awesome! )

Are you gonna hate me if I say modonna? I used to love her really in the 80's ...I like her songs like borderline, like a virgin, and material girl. But that was before ...now I don't know, she sings differently, she looks differently, and she has not so good songs lately....Anyways, the 80's are but ruled by alternative rock. So I always adored the cure, yes depeche mode, wham, boy goerge, sheena easton, hmmm....still thinking...the bangles, tiffany, is wilson phillips part of the 80's or the 90's?

I was sadly around in the 'Stock Aitkin and Waterman' period so absolutley adored Bros, New Kids on the Block, Brother Beyond, Kylie and Jason, Rick Astley, Tiffany.
That was an extremely sad stage (but extremely memorable one) of my life I did go round with grolsh bottle tops on my Doc Martins, ripped jeans and Bros T-Shirts before the early 90s hit and Cullottes came out. (Really flarey trousers, soz about speeling?)
Now my musical tastes are more refined, AC/DC, Twisted Sister, Judas Priest and of course Metallica, anything late 70s early 80s rock/metal really.
