Fav systems of 80's: Commodore 64 (RULED!), Atati 2600, NES

Fave games:
C64:
Maniac Mansion
Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders
The Legend of Blacksilver
Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar
Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny
Space Taxi
Sammy Lightfoot
others I am sure but can't think of right now

Atari 2600:
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Yars' Revenge
Video Pinball
Mountain King
others I am sure but can't think of right now

NES:
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (LoZ was better, though)
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. II
Maniac Mansion

And, IMHO, Flashback, Out of This World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Metroid on SNES ruled. F-Zero, Super Mario World and Mario Kart were pretty cool, too.

What about Super Mario Bros. III? I love the others too, but that was by far the best of all of them! Very Happy

What? E.T. didn't make the list? Laughing (I've played it before and about the coolest thing I could do on that was make E.T.'s neck stretch so he could fly!)

And can you actually figure out what you're doing in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and how it ties in to the movie?

Ever try Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on Commodore 64? They're both pretty cool and both from LucasArts, as are Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders.

yeah I know this thread is over a year old, but I just found it and I have an opinion on just about everything, so here's mine...

the only game system I played in the 80's was the NES so that defaults as my favorite

as far as favorite games...
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Dragon Warrior
Contra
Duck Hunt

and my least favorite and worst memories of a game:
1942...why? because after hours upon hours of gameplay to beat through the 99 levels of the game your only rewards were the words "The End" and a serious case of Nintendo thumb

I love 1942- that was a great game! And 1943 is a pretty nice follow up. I remember playing 1942 in the arcades some years ago- it was actually a lone arcade game at a Taco Cid- and I beat the whole thing when I was a really young kid who didn't really know what I was doing- just hitting buttons!
Very Happy Cool

As to how it ties in to the movie, no clue other than the whip. But yes, I figured it out (and beat it). I also beat E. T., back then. As for C64, I thought of others I loved: Space Rogue (from Origin. The same people that made the Ultima games) and M.U.L.E. and Arctic Fox (from Electronic Arts. The people that currently own Origin) and Starflight. So many games, so little time. As for NES, I did like SMB III. I just couldn't think of it at the time.

HE-HE Rolling Eyes I know this is a really old thread, but I was wondering if anyone else has the nintendo wii , you really can play alot of old games from the 80's.

I feel kind of funny playing super mario world on my "next gen ' system but then I say no way this is awesome! They also have turbo grafix(sp?) games, I didn't seem like those where around very long but my brother had one and the graphics were really good for the time.

I had owned the Atari 2600 and 5200, but was always jealous of my friend who had the Intellivision. I recall going to his house some time after he had purchased B-17 Bomber, which utilized a voice chip of some kind that allowed for voices to be heard. That was the first time I had ever heard a game with a human voice programmed into it. I was green with envy. LOL

Nice to see someone who remembers the Atari 2600 and 5200 and Intellivision! That sounds like a way cool game- thanks for sharing. I grew up playing Atari 2600 as a kid myself (whenever I could play it at a friend's house)- but my main system was definitely the NES. That's the one we owned as kids.
Also, good to see you back on the forums, Vaporman87. Very Happy Cool

Yep! Great blog too, by the way. I love the VHS cover art gallery- so many crazy b-movies out there I've never heard of- but the covers are just crazy! (Some are actually pretty cool and some are just laughable.) Laughing Very Happy Cool
