Duck Hunt was and is a fun game. I wish Nintendo had supported the Super NES light gun games as well as they did the NES. Super Nintendo has the bazooka and maybe five games. The NES games just seem to be more fun and Wild Gunman is number one for me.

Yeah, and the design they gave to the Super Scope (that's the name of the aforementioned bazooka) could have been better as well. I get where they were trying to go with that, but a device powered by non-rechargeable batteries it's just dumb.

Well, the battery makers probably enjoyed selling all those batteries. Laughing

That reminds me... do any of you guys remember those Pong-Consoles that were POWERED BY BATTERIES? Gee! That has to be a long con made by battery makers. C'mon, plug that thing into the wall dude, you can't even play it if there's a blackout anyway... you still need the TV! Laughing

Laughing I have one with a Kmart universal power supply. Someone finally got smart but you are right about the television being needed.

Reminds me of the Action Max video game system. It is a light gun game that uses VHS tapes. You need a VCR and a tv to play.

And it won't work on modern flat TVs... a problem shared by pretty much every light gun system out there. But the Action Max is indeed a pretty neat device... only problem; let's imagine this scenario... what would you do if you spend a good couple of hundreds of dollars in the VCR and the darn thing and the VCR swallows the tape? (besides shooting yourself, that is Laughing). VHS tapes are probably the only medium in which I wouldn't have tried to experiment if I was a game maker at that time. They were so unreliable!

There was actually a 1980s TV series based around this concept:

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future
Very Happy Cool

LOL! One of the reasons I miss the 1980's, almost every video game gimmick was tried.

The show's on DVD now! Smile Supposedly, there were even talks of bringing back a new series based on it too, but I don't know if that ever happened.

I vaguely remember the commercials or maybe it was advertised in old comic books. Good to hear it has a DVD release.
