Yay! A classic Hanna Barbera cartoon from the 1980s has landed with a splash on DVD, thanks to Warner Archive! Very Happy Cool
"The Snorks"- The Complete First Season is now available on DVD!
Check out the cover art and ordering link at the link below.

I grew up watching "The Snorks" and always viewed it as an underwater version of "The Smurfs" in many ways- which is not a bad thing. They definitely also have differences of course and both are fun. I enjoyed this cartoon as a kid in the '80s and I've seen it some now that I'm a bit older and it's still a lot of fun. Nice to see it coming to DVD. Smile Cool

Totally! I was waiting on getting this to see if more would be released. Very Happy (Thanks Mac! Wink )

No problem, Mayor West. I haven't seen any more news for Snorks on DVD, but apparently there are Snorks episodes available to watch on Hulu.com, including some Season 2 episodes not on DVD yet. Smile Cool

Yep- I just saw that last night and hadn't had a chance to post about it- thanks for posting the news, MQuack. Smile Cool
Great to have The Snorks complete on DVD!
I do think it's weird that Warner Archive apparently sold their license to another company like that. And I must admit I like Warner Archive's DVD cover design better.....
But it doesn't really matter- the important thing is that the show is complete on DVD. Another '80s cartoon to mark off the list of shows needed a complete series release. (Funny that the Snorks got finished on DVD before the Smurfs has though..... - in Region 1 DVD, anyway-.....)

The Snorks - All 4 Seasons of the Classic Cartoon Are Now Available as MOD Sets ***UPDATED***

The Hanna-Barbera show from the '80s just came out from a new firm called FilmRise

This post has been removed, as we've been told by Warner Bros Home Entertainment that Film Rise doesn't have the rights to release The Snorks on DVD in English-speaking countries (those rights remain with Warner Bros). It's unknown whether FilmRise has the rights in other territories.

Wait. So does this mean it is still being released but only in non-region 1, non-English areas? I was excited, but need some clarification. Confused Anyone?

Wow- sounds like the site jumped the gun on that one. I was already kinda suspicious of that popping up out of nowhere to begin with, but now I'm wondering if this company is really legit. (But surely TVshowsonDVD.com would know the difference between legitimate companies and bootleg sets.)
I guess this means the DVDs are only available for other Regions besides Region 1. However, it may still be possible to get them ordered and play with subtitles or something. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with this.

Thanks for the update.

I just checked on Amazon, and you can still find them listed but not through a search of "snorks." If you type in the "snorks season 'X'" (X being the season number) they do show up. Your link, Mac, brings them up as well. For how long, who knows? I am tempted to order a set and test it out.

UPDATE: I ordered season 2. The order went through, so we'll see if it gets here or they cancel it. I will leave you know. Wink

Great. Hopefully they get through to you okay- I guess we'll see. Thanks for any updates on this.

UPDATE:

Just got my copy. It looks legit. Original titles, intro and music. Plays fine in PS3, Video = 10 Audio = 10

I can post some picks soon, or if you get yours today, MQuack, please share!

One thing of note, there is no FBI warning or new copyright info. I don't know if this is common on MOD dvd's or not.

Nice to know! Congratz dude.

But, pardon my ignorance... why it shouldn't be legit? As far as I know they were retiring the discs from Amazon due a rights complication, not because they were bootlegs.

And also... so, you have a PS3, huh? Cool

I just really didn't know what to expect. I didn't know it was just over distribution rights. Confused I have gotten some sketchy MOD discs in the past from Amazon, with obvious watermarks removed or terrible low budget transfers.

Yup, PS3. Or as I call it, "My Netflix, Bluray playing device." Laughing
