Need some help...!

I need some help on finding a cartoon. Think its around the 1990's or maybe earlier. All i can remember are that there's these guys who sort of like, power up? or maybe transform with gemstones or jewel like things. Sorry for the lack of infomation..

Okay- 1990s cartoon with power-ups from gemstones or jewel-like things. I'll throw out a few possibilities that come to mind.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers- The Planeteers used their individual rings to call on their powers and also combined their powers to summon and create Captain Planet.

I don't think these guys use them as power ups, but I'm reminded of them every time someone mentions gemstones (as they crack me up).
