It was a movie from the 80s...
It opens with a watch being stolen.
A believe it is a time traveling or dimension shifting watch.
The main charactors have adventures in many times/dimensions.
The DEFINING imagery is that wherever they are standing when time traveling, a ring of fire is around wherever they were standing.

One show does come up and that had to do with things like watches, spoons, numbers and other things being taken. There wasn't time traveling but the main characters went to different worlds and.. I do remember some sort of portal.

Maybe you're thinking of Time Bandits (1981)?
The main character is a young boy, and a bunch of time-travelling dwarves who are on the run from the Supreme Being.

These are titles I've also thought that it might be...
but alas, no time traveling watch, and no circle of fire.
I actually think that it was MOVIE, and that in the open scene someone steals the watch...
Any ideas?
