Ja! Nice topic.

I don´t know if I like any "band" or "group", but I do like many songs from that time.

Beat it! by Michael Jackson

The Final Countdown by Europe

And...

Eyes without a Face by Billie Idol

Of course I have plenty more to share, but those are the ones that I listen the most.

Also, the soundtracks of all the Karate Kid, and Rocky movies are beyond epic.

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique. Pretty certain I own it in all its formats and special releases. All time favorites...

Other than Beastie Boys, Run DMC - Raising Hell. Walk This Way, Aerosmith remix, that really gave both bands a career boost.

It is also great to see an '80s icon still thrill today, none other than "Weird Al" Yankovic! That guy has gotten unbelievably better with time!

The badassery of this song knows no Earthly bounds!!! Good call, IceeDee! Cool

For my deep track selection, I give you Emerson, Lake and Powell - The Score.

Njoi!! Twisted Evil

Definitely agree! Love Weird Al! He continues to make hilariously funny music and makes an effort to keep his comedy clean and generally family friendly and I really appreciate that. Smile Cool

LOVE this song! (And The Karate Kid movies. The first three the most generally, but the fourth one with Hillary Swank is good too. I don't care for the 2010 remake version.) [/quote]

Great songs! I LOVE "Our House" by Madness- '80s classic! "Rock Me Amadeus" is great too, of course- these kinds of songs from the '80s I could listen to over and over......
"Rock the Casbah" by The Clash is great too. I've heard of all of these- and there are probably even more I've heard and don't realize it. Smile Cool

I actually heard the After the Fire version of Der Kommissar before I heard the Falco version.

And, staying in Germany, 99 Luftballoons by Nena

Grab your wading boots, because The Tide is High by Blondie

It's not the religious kind, but still a Rapture by Blondie

Travel to deepest, darkest Africa by Toto

Montego Bay by Amazulu is OK but I prefer the 1970 version by Bobby Bloom.

Here's looking at you, kid, in Key Largo by Bertie Higgins

Even though this was released in 1979, you can still Escape (The Piña Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes

I'm sure I won't be On My Own by Patti LaBelle featuring Michael McDonald

And, maybe, you can be granted some Sweet Freedom by Michael McDonald

Can you feel the Rhythm of the Night by DeBarge?

Maybe I have a Crush on You by The Jets

Open the door, get on the floor, everybody Walk the Dinosaur by Was (Not Was)

No, my first name ain't 'Baby'. It's Janet, Miss Jackson if you're Nasty by Janet Jackson

That'll do for now.

I've definitely heard this one- great, fun '80s song. Very Happy

I've actually just been listening to this recently- cute, fun song. When I first heard the lyrics, I was concerned that the song sounded like it was advocating adultery...but it all works out well in the end. And the tune is definitely infectious. It was released in December 1979- so, yeah- close enough. (I love a lot of songs from the '70s and other eras too- but that would go on for a while- and would be best for another thread.)

In the Janet Jackson video, the woman in the yellow turtleneck is Paula Abdul, who was the choreographer of that video.

Speaking of which: Straight Up by Paula Abdul. Arsenio Hall appeared in that video but this copy has him blurred out, for some reason.
