Every one remembers the female villains from Jem, G.I. Joe, He-Man, and She-Ra.

But what about the other cartoons? How many female evil-doers were there in the 80s?

Visionaries- Virulina
Sky Commanders- Dr. Erica Slade
Rainbow Brite- The Princess
C.O.P.S.- Nightshade and Ms. Demeanor
M.A.S.K.- Vanessa Warfield
Lady Lovely Locks - Duchess Ravenwaves
Bionic Six - Madame O
Beverly Hills Teens - Bianca Dupree

Spiral Zone - Duchess Dire

That's all I can think of, but there must have been more.

"We are the Misfits- our songs are better" Laughing
- Jem

(Jem is my name- no one else is the same, Jem is my name!)
Cool

And I also recall the Baroness from G.I. Joe
And I really didn't watch anything of He-Man or She-Ra

In fact, of the shows listed so I far- I mainly only remember watching C.O.P.S. and I do remember Nightshade and Ms. Demeanor
(And I also thought Dr. Badvibes was a woman- but I recently realized he's a man... a rather scary-looking man, but apparently a man nonetheless. Shocked )

Let's see if I can think of others now....

ThunderCats- Luna and Chilla of the Lunatacs
Smurfs- I know there were different witches on this show
Kidd Video- Well, there was She-Lion of the CopyCats
DuckTales- Magica De Spell

there's probably more...

Katrina (with her cat, Catgut) in Pound Puppies.
Mother Brain from Captain N (YAY! Finally on DVD).
Evil Scowlene and her daughter Scowlette from Moondreamers.
Nastina the spider from Rose Petal Place.
Oh, and can't forget the ones from My Little Pony: The Movie.
The old hag in The Smurfs.
Sour Grapes from Strawberry Shortcake.
Diabolyn from Wildfire.

I use to think he was a woman too.

For the "Smurfs":

There was Hogatha, who was evil but also funny, because
she was bald and had to wear a wig.

And there was Chlorhydris, who was even more vil and
more powerful.

Also, Smurfette began life as a villian, but that doesn't really
count.

A few more:

Melodia from Silverhawks
Cruella de Ville from 101 Dalmatians
Deviline from Tranzor-Z

Hogatha! That's the one I was trying to think of. She was a very funny villain. Smile

Good thread.

Let's see some other female villains from the 80s that I remember.

Apparitia and Misteria from Filmation's Ghostbusters
Vipra from Bravestarr
The Queen from Galaxy Rangers
Zarana (Zartan's sister) from G.I. Joe
Catra, Scorpia, Shadow Weaver, Entrapta and Octivia from She-Ra

That's all I can think of, but I am sure there are more.

I loved Duchess Ravenwaves so, so much when I was a kid!

Some others that come to mind are:

Sheba, Sweet Sea
Karina, Dungeons and Dragons (she's cool, too <3)
Zinn, Dungeons and Dragons
Tempesta, TMNT
Shreeka (sp?), TMNT
Nightbird, Transformers

Does undead Sandra Shore count, or is she in the same pseudo-villain category as Smurfette and Mumm-Rana? Either way, she was as good at being a villain as a hero.

The woman from "Smoggies" is named Ms. Emma.

Also, there's:

Evil-lyn fron "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe"
Ma Beagle from "Ducktales"

The only others I find on the web so far are:

Mrs. Snarly and Kitten Kaboodle from TaleSpin
Lady Bane, The Spinster and Marzipan from Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears
Wondezarro from The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians
Lil' Seaweed from Snorks

If I find more, I will post them.

Technically, Darkwing Duck is a 1990s cartoon- just so you know. But let's not split hairs about it. Smile

But as for other female 1980s villians, there's also the Queen of the Crown from "Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers" and Queen Hadea from "Defenders of the Earth"

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I just remembered someone who definitely deserves mention: Wat, from The Real Ghostbusters. Mrs. Roger's Neighborhood was one of my favorite episodes of any show when I was a kid, and Wat's got some impressive box of tricks (as well as a genuinely scary true form, and while the series was still on network TV, too!), so it's a wonder I didn't think of her before.

LOL- In quickly glancing at your post, at first I thought you had mentioned Mr. Roger's Neighborhood- and I was really trying to think of what female villian you were gonna mention- Lady Elaine, maybe? Ha ha- I don't quite think she was exactly a villian- but she did have many of her moody moments. Laughing

Yeah, the cthonic monstrosity sure picked some name to use as an alias (I know it's not hard to figure out that particular spoiler, but I'm white-texting it just in case). She's certainly got a sense of humor.

Come to think of it, that also sort of puts me in mind of that episode's major running gag.

"No, Wat is it's name." "Don't ask me, ask Egon!"

or

"What's jamming the frequency?" "She sure is!"

Laughing

What a great thread!

I was going to say Mother Brian and Shadow Weaver, but people have already mentioned them. How about Pythona from GI Joe? Pythona and Shadow Weaver were actually a lot alike in appearance and the way they talked.

People also said Melodia and Madame-O, both of which were awesome characters. Melodia was like the punk rockers of the day.

All i can remember are:

The Wicked Queen - Snow White and The Seven Dwarves
Cruella De Ville - One Hundred and One Dalmations
Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty
Ursula - The Little Mermaid

they are too few coz what's comes into my head right now is the modern villain...^_^
