I might have dreamed this cartoon, but I don't think so!

It featured a young boy and his maybe talking blue whale friend?

They had various undersea adventures, and at one point the boy stepped on fire coral and was hurt!

That's really all I remember. This could have been a movie. Late 80s, early 90s?

If you can ID this for me, you will change my life! <3

There was a little girl in this feature but
maybe it's one of Dot's adventures,...
